Gilbert Yvel vs. Pat Barry Likely For UFC 115 In June

A heavyweight match between powerful strikers Gilbert Yvel and Pat Barry is likely taking place at UFC 115 on June 12.

New of the bout was reported by The Las Vegas Sun on Thursday.

Yvel (36-14-1, 1 NC), a Pride FC veteran, made his long awaited Octagon debut in January at UFC 108, where he lost to Junior Dos Santos via TKO in the first round.

His opponent Barry (5-1) is a former K-1 fighter who made the transition to mixed martial arts in 2008. He last fought at UFC 104 in October, defeating Antoni Hardonk by second-round TKO. Th victory earned him Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night honors.

UFC 115, although not yet officially announced, will be held at the GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The event marks the UFC’s first trip to Vancouver.

Kongo vs. Buentello, Fisher vs. Ludwig Added to UFC on Versus 1 on March 21

The UFC added on Monday two additional fights to the main card of its UFC on Versus 1 event on March 21 at the Odeum Colorado in Denver, Colorado.

Those bouts are Cheick Kongo vs. Paul Buentello and Spencer Fisher vs. Duane Ludwig.

Kongo (24-6-1) is coming off a disappointing first-round submission loss to Frank Mir at UFC 107 in December. The loss was his second in a row.

Similarily Buentello (25-11) last fought at UFC 107 and lost to Stefan Struve. Prior to the defeat, he had won back-to-back fights.

Fisher (24-5) and Ludwig (19-10) both suffered losses in their last bouts and will be looking to get back on the winning track.

UFC on Versus 1 is headlined by Brandon Vera and Jon Jones, and features a co-main event between Junior Dos Santos and Gabriel Gonzaga. The event marks the debut of the UFC on the Versus channel.

The UFC announced three additional bouts on Wednesday for its UFC on Versus 1 event on March 21.

Heavyweights Junior Dos Santos and Gabriel Gonzaga have been scheduled to square off in the co-main event.

Dos Santos (10-1) has been tearing through the UFC’s heavyweight division, earning four consecutive wins, with three of them ending early in the first-round. His most recent victory over feared striker Gilbert Yvel at UFC 108 in January has solidified him as a contender in his weight class.

His opponent Gonzaga (11-4) is looking to make his way back into the title picture. In his last outing, he defeated Chris Tuchscherer via first-round TKO.

Also announced for the card is Anthony Johnson vs. John Howard, and Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Eliot Marshall.

UFC on Versus 1, which is headlined by light heavyweights Brandon Vera and Jon Jones, will eminate from the Odeum Colorado in Broomfield, Colorado. The event marks the debut of the UFC on the Versus channel.
