The gym is located on 1975 Diamond Boulevard in Concord, California.

“We really excited to host the Grand Opening,” said UFC President Dana White. “UFC Gyms are raising the bar in the fitness world and we want people to come out and see it for themselves this weekend.”

The expo is set to feature many special mixed martial arts demonstrations, along with autograph signings and prize giveaways.

Several UFC fighters will be on hand including Chuck Liddell, Brandon Vera, Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, Cain Velasquez, Mike Swick, and Anthony Johnson. UFC Ring Girl Arianny Celeste will also be in attendance.

Lesnar said he felt sick for weeks while preparing for his fight with Shane Carwin at UFC 106 in November, leading him to pull out of the bout. He went to the doctors to find out why he was feeling so ill, and was initally told he had a case of mononucleosis. However, Lesnar believed that wasn’t the reason he felt as sick as he did, so he visited with other doctors, and was diagnosed with diverticulosis.

He was then hospitalized for eleven days and lost fourty pounds. A few weeks after being released from the hospital, Lesnar went for another check-up, and found out he had a miraculous recovery, meaning that no surgery would be needed.

White said that Lesnar will make his return to the UFC this summer and take on the winner of the interim heavyweight title fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin, which is scheduled for UFC 111 in March. However, if either fighter is unable to compete come summertime, then Lesnar will fight the winner of the Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez at UFC 110 in February.

The UFC officially announced on Tuesday that heavyweights Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez will headline UFC 108 on January 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Nogueira vs. Velasquez is a great matchup between the present and the future of the heavyweight division,” said UFC President Dana White. “Nogueira showed in the Couture fight that he still has plenty left to offer at the top level of the game, and Velasquez was devastating in his win over Ben Rothwell, so with both guys in top form, we’re definitely going to see a number one contender emerge from this fight to take on the winner of the Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin title fight.”

Nogueira, a former UFC interim heavyweight champion and PRIDE heavyweight champion, holds a record of 32-5-1 with 1 no contest. He recently battled UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture at UFC 102 in August, winning by unanimous decision.

“I’m very excited to face an up-and-coming fighter such as Cain Velasquez,” Nogueira said. “I’m looking to get right back in the title picture. It will be interesting coming off that great win against a legend such as Randy Couture to now face a fighter who’s at the beginning of a promising career and who’s looking for that same success.”

Velasquez, who is currently undefeated a 8-0, is coming off an impressive second-round TKO victory over Ben Rothwell at UFC 104 in October.

“I am excited to fight a legend like Nogueira. He’s one of the fighters I watched growing up and admired – he’s definitely one of the greats, and a win over him is what I need to set me up for my shot at the title,” said Velasquez. “I have a lot respect for Noguiera and look forward to facing him in the Octagon.”

The UFC also officially announced a co-headlining light heavyweight fight between Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva for the event.

UFC President Dana White recently spoke with the L.A. Times about the recent CBS-televised Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers event and gave his opinion on a Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor Emelianenko match-up.

He said:

“CBS would be out of their mind to put that rinky-dink [Strikeforce]… on the air again… and without that backing, [promoters] won’t have the money to pay [Emelianenko]. The guy just got his face smashed in by Brett Rogers. Do you know what Brock or [UFC heavyweights] Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez would do to Brett Rogers? It’s time to bring this guy [Fedor] in, to see Brock Lesnar smash his head.”
