The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz Episode 4 Recap
The fourth episode of The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz premiered on Wednesday, April 21, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Spike TV.
The show begins with Team Ortiz member Nick Ring confronting his teammate Jamie Yager for cheering Team Liddell’s Brad Tavares during his fight against James Hammortree. Yager agrees with Ring and they shake hands.
It’s time for the fight announcement, and Liddell picks Rich Attonito to face Kyacey Uscola.
Back at the house, Uscola is missing his sweatshirt, so he goes to Yager’s closet and find it there. Uscola calls Yager a thief, and Kris McCray admits that he was the one to steal the sweatshirt. Despite that, Uscola kept on calling Yager a thief and the two engaged in a heated back-and-forth argument from the house until they arrived at the training center.
Uscola gave his side of the story to Ortiz and Yager did the same. Ortiz says that Yager is not a thief, and that he was also blamed for stealing one of the Punishment shirt that were laying around, but in fact Yager had asked Ortiz if he could take one of the shirts.
Next is the fight between Uscola and Attonito. The first round starts off with a brief exchange and Attonito lands an uppercut that drops Uscola to the canvas. Attonito then follows up with a ground-and-pound and Uscola is having difficulty standing back up. As soon as he gets back to feet, Attonito picks him up and slams him on his head. Uscola then reverses Attonito with a Kimura and ends up on top. He isn’t able to lock in the submission and Attonito begins to stand back up. Uscola then throws an illegal knee to Attonito, who still has one knee down on the mat. The ref steps in and awards Attonito with a disqualification win in the first round. Uscola is very upset with the decision and wants the ref to look at a replay.
Ortiz is enraged and ends up knocking one the doors down as he heads back to the locker room.
This is the third win in a row for Team Liddell, who will remain with control of the fight picks.
Attonito felt that his hand was broken after the fight. He went to get it examined and learned that he indeed has a broken hand and needs surgery. He will be unable to fight again for the rest of the show.
In the next fight announcement, Liddell chooses Charlie Blanchard to square up with Yager.
It’s time for the match, and round starts off with Blanchard attempting to take Yager down to the ground. Yager defends it and lands a shot that drops Blanchard down. He then delivers some strikes to Blanchard and the ref steps in. Yager is declared the winner by TKO in the first round.
The win is the first for Team Ortiz, and they are now in control of choosing the next match.
