Matt Mitrione Hoping Match With Kimbo Slice Remains Intact

Following the signing of James Toney to the UFC, rumours began circulating about a potential bout between the boxer and Kimbo Slice.

Although it was previously expected that Kimbo would be squaring up with Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 on May 8 in Montreal, the fight may now possibly be altered.

“I texted Joe Silva (Thursday) night and asked what was happening, if there was any danger of this being cancelled,” Mitrione informed the Las Vegas Sun. “His response was basically that nothing was official and that I should keep preparing – that I’m still fighting in Montreal.”

Mitrione is hoping his match with Kimbo remains intact as helieves he has the tools to knock him out.

“Fighting Kimbo is a phenomenal fight for me, and I think it’s a bad fight for Kimbo. I’m still preparing for Kimbo, and I firmly feel I would knock him out. Once I turn his chin and put him to sleep, that would be a great amount of exposure and a great stepping stone for my career.”

It will be interesting to see whether or not the UFC decides to change its plans and instead book Kimbo with Toney.
