Chinzo Machida Expects Lyoto To Knock Shogun Out In Their Rematch

The first fight between UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 104 in October ended in a controversial unanimous decision in favor of Machida. That led to the UFC immediately booking a rematch between the two fighters.

Chinzo Machida, the older brother of Lyoto, tells Tatame that the training camp has undergone a change to allow Lyoto to be more focused.

“We changed the concentration on training, we don’t let a lot of people around him in training anymore, thing that had no reason to happen,” said Chinzo. “We separated his training, making him more focused.”

As a result of the altered training, Chinzo sees a different outcome in the rematch. In fact, he expects Lyoto to earn a knockout win over Rua.

“I believe in a knockout by Lyoto, that’s what we’re looking at. Nobody wants to let it go to decision again.”

Machida and Rua will have their second battle inside the Octagon at UFC 113 on May 8 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
