Three-Time Super Bowl Winner Stephen Neal Considering MMA

Stephen Neal, a three-time NFL Super Bowl winner and two-time NCAA Division I heavyweight wrestling champion, is considering making the transition to mixed martial arts in the future.

After spending his time as an offensive lineman with the New England Patriots since 2001, he has now entered free-agent market.

His agent Neil Cornrich recently revealed to CSNNE.com that although Neal would like to resume his pro football career, he is interested in MMA.

“He’s excited to continue in the NFL and perhaps after that take a chance at the UFC,” said Cornrich. “Getting back involved in Olympic-style wrestling is definitely a consideration.”

Neal competed in amateur wrestling at Cal State Bakersfield and amassed an impressive 151-10 record. He won the NCAA Division I heavyweight championship in 1998 and 1999, with the second victory coming over current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

Following his wrestling career, he was drafted to the New England Patriots in 2001. He made his debut with the team in 2002 playing as an offensive guard. During his tenure with the Patriots, he played 78 games, and started in 73 of them. Neal was a part of the team’s three Superbowl wins in 2002, 2004, and 2005.
