Renzo Gracie Says Rolles Debut In The UFC Was Embarrasing
Rolles Gracie made his Octagon debut at UFC 109 on February 6, with a lackluster performance en route to a TKO loss to Joey Beltran in the second round.
His family member and trainer Renzo Gracie spoke with Gracie Fighter about the debut.
“It was embarrasing. I can tell you he wasn’t in that bad of shape,” said Renzo. “Fact is the nerves drained him of his energy. His stand up and ground work looked bad, nothing at all like he was doing in training leading up to the fight and it was if he couldn’t hear what I was telling him.
I think the pressure he put on himself overwhelmed him. He’ll learn and be back.”
With only four fights under his belt, Rolles is still early in his mixed martial arts career, and has plenty of room for improvement.
