Dan Hardy Improving His Wrestling For Fight With Georges St. Pierre At UFC 111

Dan Hardy became the first British fighter to earn a shot at a UFC championship belt last November at UFC 105. He defeated Mike Swick by unanimous decision, and set himself up to face welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre.

To prepare for the title match, Hardy has been focusing on improving his wrestling, which is one of St. Pierre strengths.

“I’m also improving my wrestling technique with a GB Olympic team member,” Hardy wrote in an entry on www.thisisnottingham.co.uk. “It’s something different I have added to this camp to better prepare for the wrestling I expect I will have to do if I want to keep the fight on the feet.

He’ll want to keep me out of the fight and get me on my back as soon as possible. But I’m ready for that; it doesn’t concern me. It’s inevitable he will take me down at some point. But I only need one shot. I only have to hit him once. That’s all it takes. I think I’ll surprise a few people.”

St. Pierre and Hardy are scheduled to meet in the main event at UFC 111 on March 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
