Strikeforce announced on Thursday the return of Lavar Johnson on March 26 at Strikeforce Challengers VII in Fresno, California.

He will be fighting against Lolohea Mahe.

In July 2009, Johnson was struck by gunfire at a family barbercue. He spent a month recovering in the hospital and he lost about sixty pounds in the process. He then partook in rehabilitation for several months and was eventually cleared to fight again.

“My health is great and I’m almost back to where I was,” said Johnson. “(The experience) made me realize how fragile life is and that every day I’m here is a blessing. It has also made me take MMA more seriously.”

Also announced for the card is Abongo Humphrey vs. George Bush III, Luke Stewart vs. Andre Galvao, Zoila Frautso vs. Miesha Tate, and Justin Wilcox vs. Bryan Travers.
