Georges St. Pierre Considering Leaving MMA to Try Out For Canadian Wrestling Team in 2012 Summer Olympics

UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre was asked by MMA Fighting whether or not he is considering leaving MMA to try out for the Canadian wrestling team in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

He responded:

“I’m not sure if I’m going to do it or not. (My decision) has to be like a couple months before the summer, but I’m not sure yet. It’s a lot to think about. Right now my wrestling is not enough to do it. It’s not an easy thing to consider.

It’s pretty hard (to qualify). You need to be champion in your country and then once your champion in your country you need to qualify for the Olympics. It’s something really hard. Right now I’m not sure if I’m even going to try it. It’s a thought that I had behind in my head and now everybody is making a big deal about it, but I’m not sure. It’s not one hundred percent.”
