Filho Believes Belfort Will Defeat Silva

Former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho gave Tatame his thoughts on why believes Vitor Belfort will defeat Anderson Silva in their upcoming bout.

“Vitor trained and with a good head is almost unbeatable,” said Filho. “He punches very well, he’s explosive and he’s proving it. I know him since he was a kid on Carlson’s time. He’s talented and dangerous. He’s complete, with a good Wrestling, boxing, good Jiu-Jitsu to MMA… with a good mind I believe on him on any category, against anyone. Anderson is amazing, I don’t even have what to say about him, but, honestly, I think if they are equal, Vitor takes it. Vitor is very dangerous, very fast. I think he beats not only Anderson, but anyone. With his kids coming, he’s more focused. I look at him and I see that he has that tiger eye again.”

Silva and Belfort are scheduled to fight at UFC 112 on April 10 in Abu Dhabi.

I tend to agree with Paulo on this fight. Vitor Belfort should be able to beat Anderson Silva. On paper, he is so much better than Silva, but we have to see how this goes. Silva has been known to slip out of difficult situations, except when that skinny Japanese kid (and underdog) submitted him a few years back. I’d be embarrassed having to tap the mat, because I am admitting I just lost the fight. That is precisely what Silva had to do in that scenario. It was rather funny to see him tapping out, also.

Back to Belfort beating Silva. He’ll most likely knock him out, or be beating Silva until the ref stops the fight. I just do not see Silva hurting Belfort in any way possible. Not Belfort. He’s gone through way too much as a man, let alone MMA(rtist). Check out his history, and you’ll understand why he has the heart that he does to win this fight.
