Al-Turk Not Fazed By The Gracie Name

UFC heavyweight fighter Mostapha Al-Turk recently spoke with UFC.com about his upcoming UFC 109 opponent Rolles Gracie.

He said, “Names don’t really impress me like they do some people. Obviously it’s impressive to be associated with the Gracie family and I’m sure Rolles will come in with A-1 jiu-jitsu and he’ll have lots of tricks up his sleeve. I’m not the sort of person to be fazed by a name or a reputation, though. He’s just another human being, at the end of the day.”

Al-Turk (6-5) is coming off a disappointing TKO loss to Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 99 this past June. The defeat came after Cro Cop had accidentally poked him in the eye, which was undetected by the referee. Al-Turk has lost two back-to-back fights inside the Octagon and is in a must-win predicament.

His opponent Gracie (3-0), often referred to as Gracie 2.0 due to his large size, will be looking to make a statement in his first fight in the UFC. All three of his victories thus far have come by submission in the first-round.
