UFC 66 - Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz

The UFC officially announced on Saturday long-time rivals Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz as coaches for season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter.

The two former UFC light heavyweight champions previously faced off at UFC 47 in April 2004, and UFC 66 in December 2006, with Liddell coming out the winner in both fights. They will battle for a third time at the conclusion of the show.

“I am excited for the opportunity to coach on The Ultimate Fighter, especially since I get a chance to beat Tito again,” said Liddell. “This is a perfect chance for me to help young fighters grow and it’s a chance for me to get another win against Tito.”

This won’t be the first TUF coaching experience for either fighter, as Liddell coached the first season of the show, and Ortiz the third.

“This season of the show is important to me in so many ways,” said Ortiz. “I love coaching and I’m happy that I can give my fighters a chance to become better athletes. Plus, I think I’m a better coach than Chuck. I think my guys are going to be hungry and ready to smash Chuck’s guys. I can’t wait to see his face when that happens.”

TUF 11 is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Spike TV.
