EA Sports MMA Announces Brett Rogers and Jake Shields, Strikeforce as Premiere League

EA Sports announced at a press conference on Friday the addition of Brett Rogers and Jake Shields to the roster of its EA Sports MMA video game. The company also announced Strikeforce as a premiere league in the game.
“We are honored that EA SPORTS has selected STRIKEFORCE to serve as a premier league in its forthcoming MMA title,” said Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker. “EA SPORTS has long been recognized by gamers as a highly innovative, ground breaking provider of sports gaming entertainment. We are confident that EA SPORTS MMA will function as a great ambassador for STRIKEFORCE’s fighters and effectively promote our sport to a new audience as well as to longtime fight fans.”
As a premiere league in the game, Strikeforce commentators Frank Shamrock and Mauro Ranallo, along with ring announcer Jim Lennon Jr., will be included. Also to be featured is long-time mixed martial arts referee Big John McCarthy.
“We are very excited to be working with STRIKEFORCE and feature them as a premier league in our game,” said EA Sports Executive Producer Dale Jackson. “They have a wealth of mixed martial arts expertise, put on great shows and have a great stable of top-notch fighters. Together we look forward to growing the sport and delivering an immersive interactive gaming experience.”
With the addition of Rogers and Shields, the game’s roster now features a total of 10 fighters, including Fedor Emelianenko, Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock, Gegard Mousasi, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal, and Jay Hieron.
EA Sports MMA is set to be released in 2010 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
