Cung Le vs. Scott Smith Official for Strikeforce: Evolution on December 19
Strikeforce officially announced on Monday that former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le will face off against Scott Smith at Strikeforce: Evolution on Saturday, December 19, at the HP Pavilion Center in San Jose, California.
Le has been out of competition since defeating Frank Shamrock by TKO at a Strikeforce event in March 2008 to attain the middleweight belt. He recently relinquished the belt to focus on his acting career.
Smith last fought at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields in June, losing to Nick Diaz by submission.
The organization also officially announced a middleweight match-up between Matt Lindland and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza for the event.
Additionally, Robbie Lawler and Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal are both scheduled to compete against soon to be announced opponents.
Showtime will be broadcasting the main card live at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
