UFC middleweight champion and top pound-for-pound fighter Anderson Silva is set to undergo elbow surgery and will not be fighting again this year, according to a Twitter post by ESPN MMA Live at twitter.com/espn_mmalive.

Silva, who holds a record 10-fight win streak in the UFC, recently defeated Forrest Griffin by knockout in a light heavyweight match at UFC 101 in August.

It is likely that he will take on either Dan Henderson or Nate Marquardt once he makes his return.

Silva already holds victories over the two fighters. However, Henderson and Marquardt have each compiled a three-fight win streak, and both are coming off impressive knockout victories, thus placing themselves in top contention for the middleweight title.
