UFC 100 on Spike TV Draws 2 Million Viewers

The UFC announced today that Spike TV’s broadcast of UFC 100 drew more than anything else on television on Saturday, August 15.
The broadcast, which aired from 10:00pm-12:30am ET/PT, drew 2 million viewers, a 1.8 rating (513,000) in men 18-34, a 1.7 (950,000) rating in men 18-49, and a 1.5 household rating.
Spike TV’s UFC 100 broadcast drew more during the day in the 18-34 men demographic than the following sports events:
PGA Championship (CBS) – 479,000
MLB Baseball (FOX) – 242,000
Strikeforce (Showtime) – 181,000
The UFC decided to air UFC 100 on Spike TV to counter-program the live Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg event, which featured three title fights, including the first-ever women’s 145-pound title fight between Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg.
It is more than likely the UFC will continue counter-programming Strikeforce events, especially now that Fedor Emelianenko has signed with Strikeforce.
