Spike TV officially announced today a new hour-long weekly series, “The Best of Pride Fighting Championships,” premiering Sunday, January 11, 2010, at 11 p.m. ET/PT.

The series, hosted by Kenda Perez, will feature the most memorable fights in Pride’s ten-year history.

“As the destination for the best mixed martial arts on television, Spike TV is always looking for ways to give fight fans more of the incredible action and competition they crave,” said Spike TV President Kevin Kay.

Pride was started in 1997 and held over 60 mixed martial arts events, featuring some of the greatest fighters including Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson, Chuck Liddell, Fedor Emelianenko, and Mirko “Cro Cop’ Filipovic.

In August 2002, the organization set the MMA attendance world record with more than 70,000 people.

The company was purchased in March 2007 by Zuffa LLC, parent company of the UFC.
