Mitsuhiro Ishida's Camp Files Protest to CSAC Accusing Gilbert Melendez of Greasing

Mitsuhiro Ishida’s camp has filed a verbal protest to the California State Athletic Commission accusing Gilbert Melendez of greasing during their fight at last Saturday’s Strikeforce event, according to the Wrestling Observer.
Melendez defeated Ishida via TKO in the third round to retain his interim Strikeforce lightweight title, avenging his unanimous decision loss to Ishida at Yarennoka! New Year’s Eve 2007.
Ishida, who competes in the DREAM organization, has lost his last two fights via TKO stoppage.
Melendez, now on a two-fight win streak, will likely take on Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thompson in his next bout.
The two fighters were scheduled to fight at last Saturday’s Strikeforce event, but Thompson pulled out due to not being medically cleared.
