Jason “Mayhem” Miller has been set to fight Jake Shields for the interim Strikeforce middleweight title, according to a recent post by Miller at MyFightTeam.com.

Miller posted, “I’m set to take on Jake Shields for the middleweight championship of the world in Strikeforce.”

The match will be contested for the interim middleweight title, due to Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le being busy working on his acting career.

Le has not defended his belt since winning it in March 2008, but he expects to return and defend it in late 2009 or early 2010.

Miller, who is a former ICON Sport middleweight champion, is coming off a no contest against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza this past May at DREAM.9.

Shields, a former Elite XC welterweight champion, recently made his middleweight debut at the Strikeforce event in June, where he defeated Robbie Lawler by first-round submission.
