UFC President Dana White announced during a July 31 conference call that a match between Vitor Belfort and Rich Franklin will headline UFC 103.

Dan Henderson was previously set to take on Rich Franklin but the bout was scrapped due to the amount of complaints from fans.

White stated that Henderson will be next in line for a middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva.

Belfort was set to fight Jorge Santiago at Affliction: Trilogy on August 1, but the bout was cancelled due to Affliction’s demise as an MMA promotion. Belfort hasn’t fought in the UFC since a February 2005 split-decision loss to Tito Ortiz at UFC 51. He is currently riding a four-fight win four streak.

His opponent Franklin is coming off a unanimous-decision win over Wanderlei Silva in a 195-pound catchweight match at UFC 99.

UFC 103 takes place on September 19 at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.
