UFC President Dana White announced the official UFC return of Tito Ortiz during a July 31 conference call.

Ortiz said during the call that he returned to the UFC due to the level of competition, which he didn’t think other promotions could offer him. He also said that he wants to fight before the end of the year.

White said that Ortiz could possibly take on Mark Coleman in his first fight back in the organization.

Ortiz is coming off major back surgery and hasn’t fought since a May 2008 unanimous-decision loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98.
