Mitsuhiro Ishida Replaces Josh Thompson in Strikeforce August 15 Fight Against Gilbert Melendez

Strikeforce has announced that Mitsuhiro Ishida will replace Josh Thompson in his fight against Gilbert Melendez at the Strikeforce event on August 15.

Thompson was unable to receive medical clearance for his injured leg.

Ishida and Melendez previously fought in December 2007 at Yarennoka! New Year’s Eve 2007, where Ishida defeated Melendez by unanimous-decision.

The upcoming rematch between the two fighters will be contested for Melendez’s interim lightweight belt.

The event will be headlined by the first-ever women’s 145-pound title match between Gina Carano and Cyborg Santos.
