Fedor Emelianenko Headlines EA Sports MMA

EA Sports announced in a statement released on Wednesday that Fedor Emelianenko will be headlining the roster of the EA Sports MMA video game.

“I have fought all over the world and I am excited to be in EA SPORTS MMA because this game is going to show the global appeal of mixed martial arts,” Emelianenko said. “I know MMA fans have been wanting to play as me and pitting me against any opponent. Now they will have their opportunity.”

UFC President Dana White has previously stated that any fighter who signs with EA Sports MMA would be banned from the UFC. However, it is not yet known if White would make an exception for Emelianenko.

EA Sports also announced that Renato “Babalu” Sobral and Gegard Mousasi will be included as part of the game’s roster.

EA Sports MMA Executive Producer Dale Jackson said, “The EA SPORTS MMA team at Tiburon has been working on the game for over a year already and we will have a lot more great fighters and other exciting news to talk about soon.”

EA Sports MMA will be released sometime in 2010 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
